Why do we declare a person as "saved" when the only thing that they did was to listen to a message and repeat a prayer? Isn't this "too soon to call?" Maybe we need to wait till they get baptized in water. I've seen this happen all the time, many of those who wrote their names on the card actually were not saved or were not committed to follow Christ. How do I know these? I saw their names written on a card and visited thousands of them face to face! In reality only a small percentage do eventually get baptized.
Are we not giving these poor souls false hope that they are right with God when in fact they are not? Maybe its time to change our message to become more like the Bible. What do you think?
The Scripture says,
Mark 16:16 (ESV) Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Acts 2:38-47 "Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ...those who received his message were baptized...and the Lord added to their number those who were being saved."
